Edvardsen, Mette
Creator of fascinating performances like or else nobody will know, every now and then and Black. I am taking part in her project Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine, in which a group of people memorize a book of their choice.

Faverey, Hans : Verzamelde gedichten and the English translations in Against the forgetting / selected poems
I have always been a big fan of the poetry by Faverey, and even more so since I started learning the poems by heart for the project Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine by Mette Edvardsen. I am also studying the English translation, Against the forgetting. In most cases, the translation works out very well, but occasionally too much gets lost to maintain the original tension.

Foster-Wallace, David : Consider the Lobster
The title essay is a meticulous investigation of the writer into the problem whether it is ethically responsible to cook lobsters alive. He approaches the subject without prejudices and without the desire to come to a conclusion. Essay writing in the true sense of the word.

Fulton, Hamish
I admire Hamish Fulton for the way he dedicated his life to walking. Walking everywhere: mountains, cities. Nice and simple is his idea to do exactly the same walk in the Scottish Cairngorm Mountains several times and each time twice as slow: 7 days, 14 days, 28 days, 35 days…. What I don’t like about Fulton, is the combination of his ‘leave no trace’ discourse with an artistic expression that could almost be seen as a publicity campaign for himself. If he doesn’t want to leave no trace – a concept which is questionable on its own – why does he still want to leave his trace in the art world? To justify receiving money for his walks, I guess, and maybe even to justify his way of life. Which opens up a totally different issue: that of art and money and being an artist as a profession…

Girondo, Oliverio: Twenty poems to be read in the tram
Poems that are written from the point of view of a traveler and give a subjective view on reality, close to being grotesque. I translated this first book of poetry by the Argentinian avant-garde writer into Dutch.
